Men's Artistic Gymnastics South Australia State Championship 2020
with the result of 6 gold medals and 1st overall place (Level 4 Open).
Congratulations to our son Daniil who has become the state champion the 3rd time in a row! The result of this competition is 6 gold medals and the 1st place overall.
This victory wasn’t an easy one to gain. About 2 months before the competition, Daniil started to have muscle weakness, always felt tired and sleepy. He also was depressed and could burst into tears easily. Daniil’s progress in gymnastics stopped. Neither we nor the coach could understand what was happening to him. We tried to talk, to encourage, to watch motivating films and what not, but it helped little. It lasted until we went to GP and did a blood test that showed that Daniil was low in iron. This was iron that affected his behaviour, his mood and performance in gymnastics. Two weeks are left before the state championship...
But this was not all. Two nights before the championship, Daniil got ill. Because of his sore throat, he didn’t sleep well both nights. He had nightmares, woke up all sweaty and in tears and howled deliriously, “I’ve lost the champ, mum, I’ve lost!”
Yesterday he did a brilliant job! He showed us that he can pull himself together whatever happens. He is a resilient and strong-willed young little man, and we’re so proud of him!
