From Escape Rooms to Deep Dives: Primary Source Engagement Across Research Instruction

Schaffer Library has worked to incorporate primary source literacy and special collections instruction across our research instruction. We have scaffolded student knowledge, familiarizing students with our collections in their first encounters with the library, and enhancing that knowledge as they delve into topical research. Presenters will introduce two successful initiatives. First, we’ll discuss our “introduction to library resources” escape room activity for first year students. Then, we’ll discuss incorporating physical and digital primary source literacy into standard library information literacy, topic development, and research skills sessions.
