The fight to save the brumbies | 60 Minutes Australia

A years-long environmental battle has come to an end, with a bill rolling back protections for wild horses in Kosciuszko National Park passed through the lower house of New South Wales' parliament.

The repeal bill, which passed with bipartisan support, will establish new mandates for population numbers and scrap a former advisory council.

In 2010, 60 Minutes spoke with activists fighting to protect the brumbies from being culled, with NSW Parks and Wildlife Service using a range of controversial methods to bring down brumby populations, including aerial culling.
