Check out my channel for many more build and running videos with all the Tamiya Hoppers and Hornets (too numerous to start listing here) ... and more coming up in the future!

Be sure to subscribe to hop along! You can also find many other radio-controlled models from Tamiya (and other brands) in my channel.

Below follows a short overview of the feautred models in the video. You can find much more written information and specifications about the specific buggies in the description boxes of the individual videos in my channel.

----------------------
In 1984 the Tamiya Grasshopper 2WD Buggy was released. First of the Hoppers. The same year and soon after it's release the Tamiya Hornet followed. Both are based on the same chassis but feature some differences like the body, the rear axle/gear box and rear shocks.

In 1988 the Tamiya Grasshopper II was released. It is a 2WD buggy based on the same general idea of the Grasshopper and Hornet, but with a new chassis and parts. The only re-used parts I have noticed are the bumper and the Hornet gear box. Later a Super G version of the Grasshopper II also appeared and in 1993 a Super Hornet appeared. Both included a 540 motor and CVA oil filled dampers, compared to the 380 and the friction shocks of the original Grasshopper 2.

In 2008 the Rising Fighter was released. It employs a Grasshopper II/Super Hornet chassis and a Super Hornet body without it's integrated wings (and lights). The rear introduces some major differences though: Here it employs the transmission/gear box of the DT-01 series and a DT-01 Mad Fighter wing/heck spoiler.

To be fair, the "Extended Hopper Family" should include the entire DT-01 series, which consists of three buggies based on the basic Grasshopper/Hornet design: The Fighter Buggy RX, The Mad Bull and the Mad Fighter. In this video I only focus on the five Tamiya 2WD buggies that uses either the Grasshopper chassis or the Grasshopper II chassis.
