The ‘IMAX® Pre-show’ delivers the IMAX® message for film fans to “Never Compromise” and experience films to the fullest. This trailer is played before the main feature and demonstrates the stunning ability and intensity of the IMAX® audio visual experience.

The sequence follows a tradition of using the time before an IMAX® feature to build excitement with a demonstration of the theatre's capabilities. You are taken on a journey through a futuristic landscape, inside a Formula 1 car and passed over by a Jumbo jet, the viewers are prepared for the most immersive cinema experience possible.

Motion design director and animator Timothy Evans created this short film for IMAX®.

Showing in IMAX® theatres worldwide including the biggest screen in the world, the trailer reinforces a reputation for extremely high quality presentation of the best in cinematic creativity.

IMAX is a system of high-resolution cameras, film formats and film projectors. Graeme Ferguson, Roman Kroitor, Robert Kerr, and William C. Shaw developed the first IMAX cinema projection standards in the late 1960s and early 1970s in Canada. Unlike conventional projectors, the film ran horizontally so that the image width was greater than the width of the film. Since 2002, some feature films have been converted into IMAX format for displaying in IMAX theatres, and some have also been shot in IMAX. IMAX is the most widely used system for special-venue film presentations. By late 2017, 1,302 IMAX theatre systems were installed in 1,203 commercial multiplexes, 13 commercial destinations, and 86 institutional settings in 75 countries.
