Linux Cluster Computing - Part 1

This is the first in a series of videos. If you're studying for the CompTIA Linux+ certification exam, you'll likely notice that CompTIA calls out the idea of a "Linux cluster server environment" in quite a bit of their instructional activities and exam objectives.

Linux is the backbone and heartblood of many, many different types of computing enviornments, cluster computing being an important addition.

In cluster computing, one has several computers running the same kind of Linux in what are called "cluster nodes." There is usually one master node that handles all of the traffic negotiations and commands across the cluster. The others are (appropriately) called "cluster nodes."

We want the pfSense router to be at the head of the system and the cluster nodes behind it, on a private network.

In this video I will walk you through how to install pfSense (we'll handle configuring it in another video), as well as one installation of Debian 12 Linux, which will serve as our master node.

You'll will need to "rinse and repeat" the Debian 12 installation two more times, as we want t total of three cluster nodes. You'll name the first one "masternode", the next one "clusternode1", and the final one "clusternode2."
