This is everything I ate in Tokyo Japan (day one)
Everything I ate in Tokyo Japan day one 🇯🇵 landed at 9am (midnight in London), a quick drop-off with luggage and I was straight in the queue for the first meal by 10:40am! The sky poured but it didn’t dampen my hunger or willpower.
- Starting off with zeitaku don (seafood rice bowl) from Tsujihan. I went to the branch in Chuo City 20 mins before the restaurant opened - and there was already an hour long queue! I went for the biggest rice bowl they had (because it had extra extra ikura and umi and I LOVE IT SO MUCH). The “tokujyo” costs ¥3600 (£23/$28 USD) and has salmon roe (x3), sea urchin (x3), tuna, fatty tuna, shrimp, clam, squid, herring roe, cucumber, leek and rice. It has comes with sea bream sashimi, a bowl of hot soup and tea
- Royal Milk Tea and Genmaicha Tea from a FamilyMart nearby. Each costs between ¥110- ¥160 (£0.70 - £1.02/ $0.86 - $1.25)
- An unofficial omakase at Kinome - a small Japanese restaurant 6 minute walk from the hotel! The menus were entirely in Japanese so I asked the (really lovely) server if she could bring out her favourites. “I eat everything but particularly love seafood!”
I had:
- Grilled sesame tofu
- Salted roasted ginkgo berries
- Mixed vegetables
- A pan fried crispy minced fish cake type of dish with veggies inside
- Sashimi selection of freshly caught local fish
- Rolled silky egg with daikon
- Sliced rare duck slices (served cold)
- A Japanese style stewed fish head called kabutoni - it was served with root vegetables and cooked with soy sauce, ginger and sugar
Went to the FamilyMart and had a hot lemon honey tea then went to bed very jet lagged and SO HAPPY AND SATISFIED!!! What a way to start the first day?!
