Mercedes-Benz Axor - Removal / Installation of the Instrument Cluster (INS) | W950, W952, W953, W954

The instrument cluster of an Axor has to be replaced.
The control unit parameters must first be stored.
These must then be transferred to the new Instrument after replacement.
Star Diagnosis is now required.
Switch on the ignition.
Start DAS with the F2 button.
Pay attention to the test specifications and safety information.
Press F2.
In the menu "Category selection", select the "Trucks" item and confirm with F3.
Select "Automatic model series access".
Wait until the data is read.
Confirm with F2.
Select "Control unit direct access" and confirm with F3.
Select "INS Instrument" and confirm with F3.
Select "Control unit adaptations".
Select "Control unit replacement".
"Read parameterization and transfer to new control unit" is displayed.
Wait until the parameterization is read.
Switch off the ignition once the process is complete.
Instruction: Replace instrument cluster.
Move the steering column to the rear.
Remove the cover of the instrument panel.
Remove the three mounting screws of the panel.
Hold the panel at the bottom and remove it.
Remove the mounting screws of the instrument cluster.
The four screws are located at the highlighted points.
Remove the four mounting screws of the bracket.
Remove the bracket.
Remove the Instrument upwards out of the bracket.
Turn the Instrument around.
Disconnect the four connector plugs from the Instrument.
Replace the instrument cluster with a new one.
Install in the reverse order.
After installation, transfer the temporarily stored parameters.
Switch on ignition.
Press F3 to confirm that you want to transfer the parameterization to the new control unit.
The parameterization is performed.
Switch off the ignition.
The parameters are checked.
Switch the ignition back on.
The parameterization has been performed.
Confirm with F2.
The control unit replacement was completed successfully.
The parameters were transferred to the new Instrument.
With a quick test, check whether any errors occurred during data transfer.
Press F2 to bring up the "Control unit direct access" menu.
Exit the menu with F1.
Select "Quick test".
The control units are checked for faults.
Confirm the kilometer reading with F2.
All control units are checked for faults in the menu "Current quick test".
It can take some time for the data to be obtained.
Erase all faults which occurred with F9.
Star Diagnosis asks whether you really want to erase the fault memory.
Confirm with "Yes".
The fault memory is erased.
Press F5 to restart the quick test.
The ticks mean: No more faults present in the control units.
Exit DAS.
The instrument cluster has been replaced successfully.
