Who’s on table? What’s at stake? All we know about US-Iran talks in Switzerland

Switzerland is all set to host US-Iran peace talks to reach a permanent ceasefire and a long term deal. Vice President JD Vance landed in Switzerland on June 21 to lead the US delegation in the high stake talks. Following Vance, Iran’s Ghalibaf arrived with Tehran’s delegation “Minab 168” against US delegation. Tehran named the delegation in the memories of 168 killed in US’ air strike in Iran’s Minab girls school. While Swiss Foreign Ministry also welcomed the Pakistani delegation “on its way” to Switzerlan. While Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister are already in Burgenstock to participate in the talks. US-Israel launched military attack on Iran with two aims – To destroy nuclear stock and to stop missile program. US’ push for missile program have diluted with time, but Washington stuck to its demand on Nuclear program. A day earlier, Iran’s IRGC claimed that Hormuz Strait is “closed to all the vessels”: Reuters Reported. IRGC blamed Israel’s military ops in Lebanon for the closure, Trump, however, denied such claim on his Truth Social. Closure of Hormuz Strait affected the trade all over the world, triggering energy crisis in many major economies. As the foundation of the talks, US-Iran have already signed a 14-point MoU to build a long term deal upon. Talking to reporters while leaving to Switzerland, Vance said the talks could continue for “a couple of days”.
