The plaintiff and the defendant used to be lovers. The plaintiff claims the defendant lost a bunch of money gambling, so she gave him a loan. The defendant hasn’t yet paid it back, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant argues it was never a loan, so he doesn’t believe he owes anything.
