On the 27th of November 2019, the Puffing Billy Railway saw another trial run of former South African Beyer-Peacock Garratt NGG16 129. This time the locomotive ran unassisted from Belgrave to Gembrook and return with 16 cars.

No. 129 was a 2'-gauge South African Railways 'NGG16' class Beyer-Garratt locomotive. It was built by Beyer Peacock & Co of Manchester to their "Beyer-Garratt" patented design of articulated steam locomotive.

No. 129 was acquired from the South African Railways by the Puffing Billy Railway and imported to Australia in 1996. It was dismantled to facilitate assessment, design and planning for regauging and rebuilding to 2' 6".
The restoration of the locomotive is nearing completion with and will assist in the demand for a powerful steam locomotive to augment G42 on the heaviest passenger trains on the Puffing Billy Railway.
