Tha'EXPRESSiONiSTS Year Round Up 2018-19

I'm posting this in the hopes it'll inspire anyone who has a desire to engage / interact with the humans of our shared future. Meaning our youth. From adolescent to teen to young adult... I can't begin to even describe the amount of (energy) and (light) that simply sits at the bottom of the zeitgeist. Quietly waiting for it's turn to rule the planet. All the while... ignored. Demeaned and perceived as a secondary importance to most nations. Maybe not always with regards to Academia but most certainly with regards to the human heart. And it's unbounded effects on the entire species at large. This human race is an emotional race. It is shaped, guided and molded by (feeling.) From negative to positive. Both at different points equally leading towards a more insightful future. So long as we continually teach our young the tools to perceive such an insight to see with. And survive with. This life can be a dream. Yet it can also be a nightmare. The brackish water of the reality that forms in-between reveals us. It evolves us. For some, into something cold. Dark and vengeance filled. For others… who brave the frontier of their own “selves”… it can be something totally different. Something warm. Something Bright. Something filled with light. With that, I’ve included my class breakdowns before each class video in the event anyone would like to recreate them for their own situation or even are inspired to do something based off of any.

The story of this class: I’m a writer / director / artist who was looking to find a way to connect and do the above lessons I simply curated on my own with youth that are otherwise surrounded in hash environments. I focused on a High School in the heart of Compton, South Central. I created my own Art Therapy class I titled “Tha’EXPRESSiONiSTS” right away. From flyers to posters, I was able to connect with some of the dopest kids ever. From creative, to cerebral, to emotional capacity to endless potential. These kids… are beautiful. Some days we’re better than others. Sometimes things didn’t go exactly as planned. But in the end… as the school year came to a close, I found myself looking back on all these memories with these mini-future giants and simply had to share. Either way, shine. And then encourage the human next 2 u 2 do so as well. ox jBjR!
