Federico Fellini and Ingmar Bergman announcing making a film together (1969)

In 1969 the American producer Martin Poll tried to develop an omnibus project called “Three Stories About Women” which should consist of segments directed by Kurosawa, Bergman and Fellini. Though Kurosawa immediately declined the offer, and Poll attempted to reorganize it as a two-part film with the title “Love Duet”. But the two filmmakers ultimately didn’t find an agreement, and continued to work separately instead. Bergman further developed his idea for “Love Duet” into an individual feature project that became “The Touch”.
