Exploring the Oldest and Largest Buddhist Complex | Dharmarajika Stupa (Chir Tope) | Taxila

I visited the Dharmarajika Stupa, the oldest and largest Buddhist complex in Taxila, also locally known as Chir Tope. This historic site, located about three kilometers from the Taxila Museum, lies along the Tamra stream, south of Hathial.

This ancient site dates back to the Mauryan era, believed to have been built by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE. It was once a major center for Buddhist teachings and a revered place for monks and pilgrims. Walking through its ruins, I could feel the deep history and significance of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
