Hey everyone! Thought I'd change it up and just to a tips/talky type video this week. 3 Photography tips everyone should know. Do you guys agree with me? Light is the MOST important thing when it comes to photography. It just...is! You're capturing light, light essentially allows us to even do photography in the first place. Having control over lighting, having knowledge of how to use lights in a photo, is so much more important than the gear you're using. Hopefully I demonstrated that with the photo example - using a $1,000 camera (Canon RP) with a $500 lens (RF 35mm f1.8), and then a camera that is 7+ years old with a $30 lens (Sony a6000 w/ Fotasy 35mm f1.7 lens).

Something else I touch on is not being afraid of budget lenses. Or just budget gear in general. Hopefully I've conveyed over the years that you don't need to have the most expensive equipment. Better quality things does matter, you don't want something to fall apart while using it, but that doesn't mean the lens or camera body has to be $3,000 for it to be "good". A $30 lens can be a great tool - like I showed in the example photo. Viltrox - they make awesome auto focus lenses for $50-$100 less than Sony's counter parts, I think they stack up quite nicely to Sony's lenses and it's not just something I say - I use them! all the time! You get the point - you don't always need to drop top dollar to get the results you're looking for.

Last but not least - and I've been wanting to say this for a while in a video - you don't need to shoot every single photo at the fastest aperture. You can of course, but I think it's important to note that lenses get sharper as they stop down, and sometimes lenses perform very poorly wide open. A lot of people get caught up in the F stop number and maybe emulating things they see online, but stopping down a bit may get you results you're much happier with in the end. It's also hard to shoot at f0/95! it's super hard to get things in focus and tack sharp.

Anyways enough blabbering, I hope you enjoyed the video, and I;ll see you with more lens reviews soon!
