Benham Falls via Deschutes River Trail | Deschutes National Forest | Bend Oregon | Oregon Day Hikes

This is a 1.7-mile out-and-back trail located near Sunriver, Oregon. It’s generally considered an easy route, taking an average of 33 minutes to complete. This trail is very popular for fishing, hiking, and mountain biking, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring.

The trail starts at a public boat ramp. After leaving the lot, you will quickly cross the Deschutes River via a bridge. A sign is in place telling the history of why log jams were created near the bridge. The path is flat as it parallels the river. A short spur trail leads to a good viewpoint of the falls. Dogs are required to be on leash from May 15 through September 15.

The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. It’s particularly known for the picturesque 25-foot drop on the Deschutes River at Benham Falls, marking the southern end of the Deschutes River Trail’s Upper Reach. Enjoy your hike!
