Hercus, The South Bend Of The South
A subscriber asked that I show more of the lathe. Here it is. It's a Hercus, an Australian copy of a Southbend 9" I'm guessing from the 1950s. It has wear and chips on its ways and a replacement tooth on its back gear. Nevertheless, it soldiers on and is capable of turning surprisingly large diameter items. I'm not a machinist. I'm just a bloke who has to make bits for his race car 'cos he can't afford to buy 'em.
