Friction Loss 101 (Pump Series - Part 15)
5 Key Principles that affect friction loss...
1. The diameter/size of the hose - The greater the size, the less the friction loss
2. GPM - the greater the GPM, the greater the friction loss
3. The length of the hose - the greater the length, the greater the friction loss
4. Elevation - the higher the elevation, the higher the friction loss
5. The quality (materials used, wear) and age - as hose ages and breaks down, friction loss increases. Or, if cheaper material is used, friction loss can increase as a result.
