We saw this gorgeous DW Exotic Collector's Drum Set at The NAMM 2015 Show exhibit hall and had to take it home. Made with 100% maple shells, this beauty features a glossy Candy Black Fade over a Cedar veneer. That same veneer is also found on the bass drum hoops and the interior reinforcement rings.

The 10" and 12" toms are made with VLT shells, which stands for "Vertical Low Timbre." That means that the shells have a lower overall tone due to their arrangement of the grain pattern of the plies. The outermost and innermost plies run vertically, creating less tension on the shell, allowing it to vibrate more freely (thus the lower pitch).

The 14" floor tom is made with a intensely strong X shell construction, crafted by using 8 plies of alternately diagonal-grained wood.

The 16" floor toms and 22" bass drum are made with VLX shell, offering the lowest grain orientation of 6 diagonal plies and 2 vertical (short grain).

To top everything off, the shells are all equipped with high-end black nickel hardware - the lugs, hoops, Suspension Tom Mounts, and tom legs.
