In the fading light of a late Victorian afternoon, a modest villa on the outskirts of Sydenham stood silent, its peeling shutters and empty rooms concealing a secret too terrible to imagine. When the unsuspecting Parminters took ownership of the dusty two storey home, they could not have foreseen the discovery of an unclaimed sea worn trunk in the loft, nor the nightmarish sounds that would follow them downstairs: the scrape of invisible talons, the rattle of unseen armour, and a murderous presence that materialised as a phosphorescent streak of dread. Bound by curiosity and pride, they summoned science, clergy, even occult experts, only to find each confrontation more harrowing than the last, until at last the final horror was revealed, nestled at the bottom of that long forgotten chest.
