Whether in online conspiracy forums or Indiana Jones, there exists a popular link between the Nazi party and the mythical or supernatural. Today, we scrap conspiratorial speculation and present the honest but fascinating historical record. We show that leaders of the Nazi party believed in various mythologized, white supremacist tellings of history. The myths interwoven in these histories sometimes included a belief in an Aryan Atlantis, the Holy Grail, and Norse gods like Thor. We finally argue that these beliefs weren’t trivial, as they often helped to reinforce Nazi militarism and racism.
