This Simple File Server Does Way More Than I Expected

Sometimes you just need one file and you want to get it fast. In this video I show you CopyParty. It is a simple Python app that turns almost any device into a file server you can use in a web browser. I run CopyParty in Docker and connect it securely using Tailscale on my tailnet.

We focus on Docker Compose and a new trick using Compose configs. I show how to configure CopyParty and Tailscale Serve directly in the compose file without extra bind mounts. I also explain an important gotcha about config updates and container recreation. This is a simple but powerful setup for private file sharing over Tailscale.
