How govt plans to promote local e-mobility industry

Uganda’s e-mobility push is gaining ground, with local content in vehicle manufacturing rising from under 10 percent in 2021 to about 40 percent today, and more than 25,000 electric vehicles already produced. As domestic capacity expands into spare parts manufacturing, the government says it will soon seek Cabinet approval to increase taxes. on imported components that can be made locally, in a bid to protect the growing industry. These revelations were made during the launch of National Science Week by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Monica Musenero.
