Great 1920's Charleston 1926

For me the Charleston is the ultimate dance of joy which is why I really love this one. I've backed this silent footage with Bert Firman's 1926 recording of "Charleston Charley". The dancer is a Miss Bee Jackson dancing in front of the Jenkins Orphanage in Charleston South Carolina in 1926. I love the part beginning at about the 1:30 mark where Bee tries teach the Charleston to a group of what appear to be teenage girls. The orphanage band in the background which toured the US and Europe produced such great Jazz artists as William "Cat" Anderson, Jabbo Smith and Count Basie's long time guitar player Freddie Greene.
