Highest runs in test cricket history (1955 - 2020) - Most test cricket runs - Bar chart race

This video is about the cricketers who have scored the most runs in test cricket between the year 1955 and 2020.

It shows us how cricketers have surpassed their predecessors and this will keep happening as history is made further.

Test cricket is played between international cricket teams who are Full Members of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Unlike One Day Internationals, Test matches consist of two innings per team, with no limit in the number of overs. Test cricket is first-class cricket, so statistics and records set in Test matches are also counted toward first-class records. The duration of Tests, currently limited to five days, has varied through Test history, ranging from three days to timeless matches. The earliest match now recognised as a Test was played between England and Australia in March 1877;since then there have been over 2,000 Tests played by 13 teams. The frequency of Tests has steadily increased partly because of the increase in the number of Test-playing countries, and partly as cricket boards seek to maximise their revenue.

In terms of innings, West Indian Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara are the fastest (195) to reach the 10,000 run mark, while Australia's Steve Waugh is the slowest to achieve the feat (244). Tendulkar holds multiple records—most appearances (200 matches), most runs (15,921) and highest number of both centuries (51) and half-centuries (68). England's Alastair Cook is the fastest in terms of time span, taking 10 years and 87 days, while West Indian Shivnarine Chanderpaul's time span of 18 years and 37 days is the slowest among all. Pakistan's Younis Khan is the latest player to achieve this feat.

Sachin Tendulkar has the record of highest runs in Test career as of now. He scored 15921 runs in 200 matches and 329 innings. Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis are the 2nd and 3rd highest scorers with 13378 and 13289 runs respectively.

Mohammad Yusuf from Pakistan has the record of most Test runs in a Calendar year. He scored 1788 runs in 11 matches and 19 innings with an average of 99.33 in 2006.

Sachin Tendulkar has record 51 centuries in Test cricket. He has scored 68 half-centuries as well.

We have not eliminated any retired players as a homage to them.

Also the initial years data can seem erratic as there was no proper data available.
Apologies for the same.
