Churchill bike lane 1 01

Two trips up and down the new Churchill Ave bike lane in Ottawa.

This was taken on a very quiet day but still shows some of the challenges users are in for with the wrong people and obstacles in the lane.

On a busier day, or time of day, this set up is ripe for many close calls between users and obstacles.

My thought is that this is a fine idea for kids and parents on bikes, travelling very slowly, but not for people trying to get somewhere efficiently and effectively.

That said, Mom, Dad and kids should ride on a different road that does not need this kind of infrastructure. There are many parallel roads in this neighbourhood that are much quieter and safer.
