Very often I get asked "Tom how can I use lights when I am filming in remote locations?" In the past I used to always say go and buy a gas generator. Those work of course and with the new selection of the quieter inverter generators you can still record sound but only if you run a long extension cable so the generator is far enough from the camera so you can't hear it. However, ever since I started using the new solar generators things have improved dramatically. First of all I no longer need to worry about not just sound but also about the fumes that a gas generator emits. Also when stuck out in the wilderness without a gas station nearby I no longer worry about getting extra gas or having to change the oil in the gas generators. That is where the real advantage of solar generators is evident. They are clean to use, they are simple to start up and maintain. Also they are silent. PLUS they can be recharged just using the sun!
