On November 16th, 2002 Mahmood Mamdani delivered the 5th annual Eqbal Ahmad Memorial Lecture. His lecture was titled "Good Muslim, Bad Muslim: The Late Cold War in The Production of Terrorism."

The Eqbal Ahmad Lecture series was founded to honor the late teacher for whom it is named. Ahmad was a longtime professor at Hampshire College, and this lecture series was built to be a continuing celebration of his life and work.
