(27:57) The Legend of Zelda any% no up+a speedrun (former world record)
New world record for The Legend of Zelda - any% no up+a speedrun. New record was set on October 18th, 2020. This PB achieves my goal of getting a sub-28 minute time, and the fourth(!) PB of 2020. This time was beaten by GreenMario (twitch.tv/GreenMario) on 12/30/2020 with a time of 27:55.
This was the first sub-28 minute time in this category. Only 12 days after my previous personal best (28:04), this run's pace was quite insane throughout. The only real issue was losing 9 seconds to my PB after the silver arrows, 5.5 seconds of which were RNG on the Gannon fight. I achieved the first 28 on December 9th, 2015 and there was no way that I believed that a 27 would ever happen in this category.
This time is insane considering there have been very few timesaving changes to the route. Runners primarily used the 'Blue Candle 527' route until the recent reroute of the 'Red Candle Roocorder 257' route, which made the theory times nearly identical. The RC route is much less dependent on resources early in the run, which allows for more runs getting to the mid-game. Shoutouts to JSR, GreenMario, rcdrone, Schicksal, and khananaphone for contributing to the route and motivating me in the first place.
Glitches used in the run (allowed by the rules of the category):
Screen scroll - warping from side to side on the overworld. Done by lining Link up on the 5th pixel from the screen transition, pressing up or down for 1 frame, then walking through the transition.
Block clip - passing through a single block. Done by aligning Link on one of two pixels, pressing A then left to buffer the clip.
