Classic Photos Of Newcastle And Of The East End

Classic Photos Of Newcastle And Of The East End.
After starting what was the second old pictures of Newcastle and the east end group my aim was to get photos in some kind of area order. The first group I started I left open for people to add their photos, but people started adding personal family type photos which really could have been taken on the moon for all people knew?!, so with the new group I controlled what was added.
In March 2010 I thought why not make a slide show type film and piece the photos together somehow and maybes add some audio behind them? So I added a comment on the facebook page and people were interested!
Over March and April I searched through all the photos I'd collected, or that had been donated and specially selected ones I thought would bring the most to the film. Also at this time I was doing face to face interviews with people, collecting sound effects and samples, choosing music to use and basically looking for any type of relevant sound which would compliment the photos.
I originally wanted the film to start in Newcastle and end in Wallsend, but a shortage of Wallsend photos prompted me to start from Wallsend and end in Newcastle!
So Starting in Wallsend the trip goes from Wallsend to Walker and down the Riverside, Up through Byker and down to the Ouseburn, back up Shields Road, Through Heaton and Shieldfield and eventually Newcastle Town Centre and ending at the Quayside.
In May production started and over 3 full months I begun resizing, remastering, arranging and programming the photos so that they moved in a realistic order(i.e. having a photo of Swan Hunters with cranes in the background and having a photo of the cranes and keeping them grouped). On certain photos I program an interesting morphing type effect where photos morph from one to another from key parts in relating photos(you will see what I mean if you watch this film!).
When having the structure of the film in place I worked on a separate program programming audio and layering sound scape type sounds, speech samples and mixing and editing music to create a huge wall of sound that would hopefully bring each photo alive.
Then at the end of July I added the programmed audio and photos together, made a few tweaks and after spending near enough 3 full months locked in a room it was finished!
Ok well nearly, over the next few months after some guidance the film was tweaked down to the finished version which is now Classic Photos Of Newcastle And Of The East End.
Others have used the photos i collected to make movie maker type films, but here it is at last on youtube-the original gangster!
Limited Edition copies are still available to buy at £3.00.
