Studio Visit with Jim Phillips

Jim Phillips is single-handedly responsible for quite possibly the most recognizable skate graphic of all time: the Santa Cruz “Screaming Hand.” With roots in comic art, surf, car, and, of course, skate culture, Jim’s graphics have become an institution over the past 40 years — he’s influenced just about every skate artist and has helped create the look and feel of the skate graphic as we know it.

Now celebrating 30 years of his iconic Screaming Hand, Jim takes us around his studio and describes his humble beginnings as a comic artist, his relationship with Santa Cruz, and the future of the Screaming Hand. If you’re even remotely interested in skate graphics, you’re gonna need to watch this.
