you can use a coordinate measuring machine, or CMM, to do dimensional analysis. You can also use an optical scanner, and you can use an x-ray CT scanner as well. And those 3 techniques often used for dimensional analysis use very different physical phenomena to do the measurements. So CMMs use a tactile measurement. You, you would take a physical probe and let it touch the surface of the object to measure where that surface is.

So this is a tactile and a mechanical measurement. The optical scanners use optical reflection on the surface of the object, and x-ray CT scanners use x-ray absorption contrast for the measurement. And because of the difference between those 3 techniques, you know, physical differences, there are pros and cons for each technique. So let's take a look at the CMM first.
[07:53-08:14]
The CMM is probably the most well-established technique, and that's a pro. And also, because this is a tactile and a mechanical measurement, it is the most accurate technique. And you can deal with relatively large objects. So those are the pros of CMMs.
