This segment on my lecture on the philosophes focuses on Denis Diderot, co-editor of the first Encyclopedia in addition to being an author, poet, and prankster in his own right. In addition to discussing the significance of Diderot's Encyclopedia, I look at some of Diderot's poetry and explain some of the context behind one of his most famous books, The Nun.
