Mind-Body Healing through the Arts Series: Creative Dance & Expression | The New School
Creative Dance & Expression: A Dance/Movement Therapy Perspective is hosted by the Creative Arts and Health (http://www.newschool.edu/public-engagement/creative-arts-and-health-certificate) certificate program at The New School. The featured speaker is Patricia P. Capello, MA, BC-DMT, NCC, LCAT, a Senior Dance/Movement Therapist and Acting Team Leader for the Therapeutic Activities Service at Maimonides Medical Center's Department of Psychiatry in Brooklyn, New York. She has served over 16 years on the Board of Directors of the American Dance Therapy Association and is Associate Chair of The International Panel.
The New School for Public Engagement (http://www.newschool.edu/public-engagement) presents Mind-Body Healing through the Arts Series, moderated by New School Creative Arts and Health faculty Kelley Linhardt, MA, LCAT, ATR.
The field of creative arts and health is rapidly gaining recognition as an essential component of health care in our society. By tapping into the deeply expressive aspects of body, mind, and spirit through such modalities as music, sound, imagery, role, and movement, the therapist facilitates self-actualization and healing within the therapeutic relationship. Prominent practitioners demonstrate principles and practice in this series of experiential presentations.
