Lada Niva 4x4 Maintenance - Front Brake Rebuild - Part 2

In this video I begin to re-assemble the front brakes on my Lada Niva (the real beast from the east) including fitting the hub and disc, new brake pads, brake calipers, and brake pipes.
The Nivas caliper system is quite unusual in that it follows a sliding caliper principle, but does not use dowels for the sliding mechanism, rather a shoe mechanism which clamps down on the caliper body, this is a good system for an off-road vehicle as there is little chance for the sliding mechanism to seize.

This is how I do the brakes on a Niva, opinions may vary and I recommend you take advice from professionals or get one to complete the job for you. Brakes are a safety item and are not to be messed around with.
