I moved to Mexico! I'm currently in Mexico City. At the time of this writing, I've been here for just over a week. So far, I'm loving it. Here are some pros and cons I've experienced so far living in Mexico City:

Pros:
- The food. Mexican food is amazing, and here in Mexico City, the amount of culinary options you have are endless. One of my favorite parts about living here is the street food on practically every corner. My favorite torta stand sells you a huge torta for 49 pesos, around $2 USD. You can also find fancy options, and other cuisines as well like Chinese and Thai.
- Community. When I first got here, I was worried I would be lonely. While I have had a few days like that here, so far I've had incredible community from the get go. Thanks to friends already living or traveling here, I was able to quickly integrate with social groups and meet new friends. A goal of mine is to get good at dancing, and the dancing community is extremely close-knit here.
- Cost of living. Depending on your lifestyle, Mexico can be way cheaper to live in than the US. Mexico City isn't necessarily the cheapest place to live, especially if you're in a more expensive neighborhood like Condesa or Roma. However, rent can be as cheap as $200 USD to $2,000. It depends on what you're looking for and where. Food is cheap here and public transportation is the easiest and cheapest way to get around. A ride on the Metro or MetroBus costs 5-6 pesos, about 25 cents USD. You can also use Uber or Taxi's, but these costs add up quickly.
- Transportation. I had to mention this because I've been loving the transportation options here in Mexico City. While I mostly walk, the Metro and MetroBus are super convenient for getting around. While Uber is even more convenient, it's much more expensive (even though it's still affordable). My new favorite form of transportation however, is "EcoBici". This is Mexico City's public bike system. Download the app, pay $30 USD for an entire year, and you can ride any bike located around the city. It is seriously awesome and faster than walking. Just be careful when riding! Roads can sometimes have pot holes, bumps, or crazy drivers.
- Entertainment. There are endless things to do here. Seriously!

Cons:
- Traffic.
- Pollution.
- Petty Crime. As long as you care for your belongings, don't go to unsafe parts of town, don't walk late at night, avoid "peseros", and aren't distracted with your phone out in public, you should be able to avoid petty crime for the most part. Pick pocketing however is normal as in all large cities, especially on the Metro or walking in crowded areas.
- Noise.

Thank you for watching, you're awesome :) New videos every Saturday.

Hola, I'm Nate. I used to not know any Spanish at all, and I had no interest in learning the language. I thought learning Spanish would be boring, a waste of time, and would provide no value to my life. Then I started taking Spanish classes in high school and everything changed for me. I struggled with learning the language a lot at first, but thanks to my teachers and my Spanish speaking friends, they helped make the learning process fun. Within a few months, I had gotten to a conversational level, but more important, I had become a more confident person. The real win for me, though, was the friendships I made and strengthened. I discovered that not only did I have higher self esteem, but being out in the real world with people, whether old friends or new ones I met, made me feel more alive and connected with the world around me. Now it's my goal to create videos that make you smile and inspire you to learn Spanish or another language!
