"This is just internet drama, It's not actually happening"

Many people have a tendency to dismiss certain things that happen on the internet, simply because it's happening on the internet. I see it all the time in my comment section, random tiktoks and screenshots of videos are all just things that happen online, but it's not actually happening irl. How much of that statement is true? Is it really effective to dismiss any issue that occurs digitally just because it might not be real? How much of internet drama, and just the internet in general, affects our "real" lives? A comment I got inspired me to think about this concept, so I'm gonna yap about it.
