AMAZING shelling before and after a BIG storm on Sanibel!

Welcome to my first actual video. Today I will show you the highlights of my beachcombing in Florida trip! The first parts of the video are normal beachcombing days on Sanibel/Captiva, which is pretty much what you can expect on your next trip there. However on 12/20/18 there was a strong wind that pushed a ton of shells on to the beach, and it was filled with giant horse conchs, whelks, tulips and more! It was AMAZING.

But what could have caused so many shells to wash up? Well, yeah, there was a large storm, but there is more to that. Before all of this happened there was a giant algae bloom that lasted many months, which killed a lot of sea life like fish, manatees, sea turtles a WHALE SHARK, and snails. After this hole bloom, there was a giant "dead zone" in the Gulf Of Mexico the size of Rhode island. So what probably happened, was that the storm pushed all of the leftover shells from that "dead zone" causing these insane shells to fill up the beaches of SW Florida for days. Pretty incredible!
