Gosia Wlodarczak's Frost Drawing at Melbourne Recital Centre
Melbourne-based Polish artist Gosia Wlodarczak interprets her surroundings through the language of drawing.
For 21 days, artist Gosia Wlodarczak will investigate the intersection between art and life, architecture and performance through the act of drawing on the iconic glass honeycomb window facade of the Melbourne Recital Centre. The artwork created will be informed and shaped by Wlodarczak’s observations and experiences whilst she is in residence.
About Gosia Wlodarczak:
Gosia Wlodarczak was born in Poland (1959) and relocated to Melbourne in 1996, where she has since won numerous prizes, held 60 solo exhibitions and conducted 62 performances. Drawing is the basis of Wlodarczak’s practice, extending towards performance, interactive situations, installation, sound, and moving photo collage – she refers to this as transdisciplinary drawing.
Wlodarczak graduated with a Master of Fine Arts with Distinction from Poznan Academy of Fine Arts, Poland (1984), and has since exhibited in major shows internationally including Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, Singapore Biennale, Carrousel de Louvre, Paris; and The Drawing Center, New York. She has worked in the collections of AGNSW, MCA, NGA, QAGOMA, and many others.
