My boss told me to sound less gay – Here’s why I didn’t listen

My former boss told me to sound less gay. At that moment it felt just like being back in the school playground with the bullies. I left the job and amplified my "gay" voice to support and inspire LGBTQ+ youth around the world with my book and documentaries.

It is never ok for someone to ask you to change a part of who you authentically are. If it happens, resist it, remove yourself from the situation and surround yourself with people who love you for who you are.
