Tax cuts alone won't generate jobs the economy needs: Marles
Deputy Labor leader Richard Marles says tax cuts are “all well and good” but on their own they’re not going to generate jobs that the economy needs.
There has been speculation Treasurer Josh Frydenberg will announce tax cuts of some sort in next month’s federal budget.
“I think when we’re talking about tax proposals, let’s see what the government is actually putting forward in relation to tax," Mr Marles said.
“I mean there has been a lot of speculation about tax in terms of this budget.
“What we think though is really important is that what we hear is a strategy in relation to the building of the economy.”
Mr Frydenberg will announce the budget on October 6.
