Norse Myth: Evidence before the Eddas

Our most complete sources for Norse myth, the Eddas, were written centuries after the conversion to Christianity. Even though these texts are based on much older traditions, what kind of physical evidence attests to the Norse gods in a time when they were still worshiped?

Dr. Jackson Crawford is Instructor of Nordic Studies and Nordic Program Coordinator at the University of Colorado Boulder (formerly UC Berkeley and UCLA). He is a historical linguist and an experienced teacher of Old Norse, Modern Icelandic, and Norwegian.
