Tutorial: Repairing A Sony MZ-R55 MiniDisc Recorder

I bought a Sony MZ-R55 in the middle of the night from someone on Facebook for $15!!!! It worked, but not really. Basically not working. Can I fix it?

I am so not a consumer electronics repair guy. What with my sausage fingers and rudimentary soldering skills. But I do have an Internet connection and a set of tiny screwdrivers, so let's dive in.
Apologies for the sound quality in parts - I am working in my music room on a 34c November afternoon and the air-conditioning is not silenced .
