A Parmelu Tukda in Kathak is a special type of composition that incorporates sounds inspired by nature or the surroundings. The word "Parmelu" originates from "Prakriti" (nature), as it combines rhythmic syllables (bols) with sound imitations of elements such as birds, animals, and natural phenomena like rain, thunder, or wind.

These compositions often include bols like thunga, dhilang, ku, ta, gha, ghun, mimicking sounds like the chirping of birds, clinking of anklets, or galloping horses. Parmelu Tukdas are performed with a sense of playfulness and creativity, highlighting both the dancer's rhythmic expertise and their expressive grace.

Teental is one of the most popular taals in Indian classical music and Kathak. It has 16 beats, divided into 4 equal parts of 4 beats each. Known for its symmetry, it provides a versatile rhythm for both expressive and technical dance performances.
