Tata Motors to Roll Out Hydrogen Buses Across India, Tata Sons Chairman Confirms

Tata Motors is likely to roll out hydrogen-powered buses across India in the near future. This was confirmed by Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran, who highlighted the company’s expanding focus on alternative powertrains.
He also said that Tata Motors’ Lucknow plant is expected to manufacture over 20 lakh vehicles in the next five years. To put this in perspective, the plant took 34 years to produce its first 10 lakh vehicles, but the next 20 lakh units are expected to roll out much faster, driven by strong growth and rising demand.
According to the chairman, India presents immense opportunities, with the economy poised to grow at a faster pace than any other major economy over the coming decades. He noted that Tata Motors’ product portfolio has expanded significantly — moving beyond traditional trucks and buses to include diesel, CNG, electric vehicles, hydrogen buses, and hydrogen trucks.
