Lowari Tunnel is a gift for the people of Chitral and Dir districts as it connect both districts via road.Prior to this Lowari pass used to remain closed from november to may and goods and other things were transferred from Afghanistan.People had to hike on snow by foot to cross the pass and many scummed to death.
It has 2 tunnels one is 8.6km long and second is 3 km long.
Lowari pass is elevated at 10230 feet.These tunnels shorten the 2-3 hours journey and provide access during winter also.
