New drone footage of protests in Serbia

New drone footage of protests in Serbia over the last month (March 2, 2025 - April 2, 2025) shows large-scale demonstrations, especially in Belgrade. These protests began with the roof collapse at the Novi Sad train station in November 2024, which killed 15 people. The incident led to accusations of corruption and negligence against the government and sparked deep public anger. However, the claim of “one million demonstrators” cannot be fully substantiated by available information. On March 15, 2025, a major protest in Belgrade drew 107,000 people, official sources say, while independent observers estimate the turnout at between 275,000 and 325,000. This is considered one of the largest protests in Serbia's history, but there is no conclusive evidence that the one million figure was reached. Such exaggerated numbers may stem from claims circulating on social media, but verified data suggests a lower turnout. The origin of the protests is linked to the collapse of the roof of the train station in Novi Sad. The incident triggered a widespread debate about the lack of transparency and safety lapses in infrastructure projects involving Chinese companies. Over the course of March 2025, the movement, which began with students, grew to include farmers, teachers, lawyers and even military veterans. The action on March 15, dubbed “15 for 15”, referred to both the date and the number of dead.
