Durante sus presentaciones en el teatro Victoria en " Bola de Nieve " en el marco del Festival Greek de Barcelona, la discográfica HORUS, invito a Lugo como pianista, arreglista y director musical discografico a grabar un disco junto al maestro Moncho el gitano del Bolero.
Una de las características de Lugo, ha señalado la prensa, es su capacidad para reunir piezas del cancionero tradicional cubano pero desarrolladas desde el más cuidado academicismo. El resultado es un repertorio erudito y popular al mismo tiempo. La crítica distingue habitualmente la ejecución técnica de Lugo, a la que se califica de impecable, y también su gusto por la estilización. El prestigio de este pianista ha aumentado enormemente en la música clásica académica y en el terreno popular de su país. Intimista e impactante son dos palabras que aparecen con frecuencia en las críticas sobre sus conciertos.

El lenguaje musical de Lugo es la combinación del complejo rítmico cubano-africano con su intelecto académico clásico. Su música es fundamentalmente una síntesis entre la cultura clásica universal con un lenguaje muy técnico de la música cubana.
En el pianismo de Lugo se reconocen las influencias de los prominentes pianistas Chucho Valdés, Gonzalito Rubalcaba, Ernesto Lecuona, Keith Jarret, Horowitz, y Alfred Cortot.
En la actualidad prosigue con incontables giras y conciertos por diferentes partes del mundo.
Preside AfroCubanConcertMusic contenidos y desarrollo artísticos ,agencia con lo cual impulsa proyectos socio culturales en materia discográfica y desarrollo de carreras artísticas para talentos , cuya finalidad es lograr un impacto de alcance global.
