11 p.m. Aug. 24: Tropical Storm Laura enters the Gulf of Mexico

Tropical Storm Laura has finished its trek across the Caribbean Sea and Cuba, making its way into the Gulf of Mexico.

Now in the gulf, Laura could at least become a high-end Category 2 storm with 110-mph winds. With warm sea surface temperatures and lower wind shear, ingredients for further intensification are be in place.
