Afro Peruvian in Dance Mission

The class will focus on the Festejo dance. This dance was born in Peru with the presence of African descendants during the colonial era and together with the Cajon, they are the most representative artistic expressions of Afro-Peruvian culture. Currently, the Festejo is danced in a context of celebration and is very popular in Peru. This dance is characterized by its agility, being the most prominent movements of the spine, pelvis and hips. The main accompaniment for this dance is the Cajón.
